performance

I wanted my performance to speak to the idea that technology - especially social technology - is consuming our lives and isolating us from others.  I wanted to represent a taking back of my life from the frivolous temptations and distractions such technology can offer.

  1. I loved your performance piece of dealing with technology and changing its aspect with the color red. The shopping cart transportation at the beginning was awesome (reminded me of shopping at the good will). This really brought out the fundamentals of consumerism, and how you took the items from the cart and placed them on a plastic covered table and painted them in the imagery of emotional perspective. This really enabled something new with the morphed painted items. They were turned into something new and expressive. The painted TV was my favorite.

Overall this piece was indeed a great job with taking steps of expressing your art from start to finish, along with the little extra video of you trying to play basketball. Great job of capturing all the detail in a perfect little story.

Hats off to the person videotaping you. The photographer really captured a lot of perspective amongst the viewers (very integrative). Loved the expression of the security guards and the guys of the basketball court.

    Great job :)

  3. This was hilarious! I cant believe the guys didn't play ball with you, I bet they thought you would rub off on the ball. LoL. And the cops... I thought they would bust you for something... Maybe they would have been more inclined to if you didnt have the plastic spread out. It was great to see peoples raw reactions to something so strange and bazaar.

  4. You are so crazy! The body painting must have taken forever. Great choice on the red paint because it just jumped out at you and it was just so bright. you were hilarious at the end!

I love the theme: you consuming the technology instead it consuming you. What a thought!

  5. The entire performance was amazing - I especially like how you totally ignored everyone. However, my favorite part was at the end when you interrupted the game. I can totally picture those wannabes getting upset. Uh, hello, the baskets are like a foot lower and the 3-point line is like at high-school distance on those courts? It makes me happy that somebody broke into their egocentric world if only for a few fleeting seconds. Just to be clear, I play basketball their a lot, but by myself. I wouldn't mind you interrupting me.

I wish I had something critical to say because your works deserves serious critiques. I imagine you get tired of hearing how great your work is, well maybe not. I was thinking it would have been cool if you left footprints, but that's not really a critique. There must be something . . . I'll keep thinking. Hey that's the best achievement - to keep the viewer contemplating, thinking, and trying to gain understanding.

So, their you go . . . GOOD WORK

  6. This was awesome, at first I thought you used a suit as I did but the paint was really cool. I was so glad to see you go try to play basketball and get completely denied, they have no taste. Great job.
