grid project

After much trial and error, i finally have something together for this project.  it's not really how i wanted it to be (i wanted it to fit tighter and to use a material with a bigger grid, but i abandoned these ideas after starting my third suit.) but it's something.  like a swamp creature or something.  anyway, here are some photos:

could've buttoned the back up a little better... sometimes it's hard to find the buttonholes because they aren't finished yet.

oh how fun...

  1. Very good art interaction with your burlap costume. Love the sowing and sketching job you did. I don't think the buttons in the back were bad at all. In fact, it provided a unique shape and style within your costume.

Did you sow it by hand, or use a sowing machine, especially for the unique stitching and buttons?

Anyhow, it must have indeed taken you a while to complete this costume grid. Your costume grid is great in style and a great edition to our projects. It is something different, unique, and a step within the beyond art scope.

I hope you take Santis advice and use it for future use. You have a great idea and this could play for many more spectacular things coming up within the semesters. Your costume by the way is also a good replica of the scarecrow, very cool!

Overall you did an excellent job with the grid.

    Great work :)

  2. Seriously every single project you do amazes me. This was awesome and i really like the way you tailored it. I also really like how the buttons looked in the back, although they are put there for a purpose ( closing the back together) they added to the style of the apparel too!

  3. Blank and ready for production. What energies and ideas will be absorbed? My favorite part is the head. It's blank, but the texture and stitching make it seem that something is being formed underneath.

Reminds me of TOOL. Good work.

  4. this was a very unique and creative way to execute the assignment. I liked that you decided to use a burlap sack and especially enjoyed the use of red thread it really popped.

  5. Wow. This is just amazing! Using burlap is such a creative choice for a grid. Totally out of the world. You really looked a faceless doll until Santi projected your picture onto your burlap face... pretty cool. This must have taken you forever to sew together.

    Great job!
